She Bangs.

"A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life."
Coco Chanel

Lately all I can think about are bangs, bangs, bangs.  I WANT BANGS!  I do.  I desperately want bangs.  Should I get bangs?  Well, I don't know.  What do you think?  This picture was a couple of years ago when I really, really, really wanted bangs.  I wanted bangs so badly that I made my mother cut them for me.  I don't attempt to cut my own hair, ever. I am crazy, but, not that crazy.

Here is the thing though, I have a cowlick.  You don't know what that is?  Let me break it down for ya.  A cowlick is a section of hair that stands straight up or lies at an angle at odds with the style in which the rest of an individual's hair is worn (yes, I just quoted wikipedia, and?).  The worst part?  This cowlick is in the very middle of my forehead.  What does that mean?  It is really difficult to maintain bangs.  And here is the thing, I cannot stand anything high maintenance.

My idea of hair styling?  Wash and comb, the end.  Okay, maybe every once in a while I condition my hair with some special hair product.  As long as it is under five minutes I am good to go.  Anything longer?  Ugh, not so much.

Oh, the dilemma.  To bang or not to bang, that is the question my friends.  That is the question.

  1. I haven't had bangs in a few years.. I've made two bad decisions-- 1) letting my best friend, who is great at cutting hair, she cuts her four daughters and her husbands.. cut mine and give me bangs. I looked 12 and I was 30 at the time. I have a very round face and as you can imagine, it was no good. Then a few years before that, I decided I would give myself the "side swoop" before attending a friend's wedding and it ended VERY badly. I would recommend letting a professional trim your bangs, bring in multiple photos of pictures that you like showing bangs that you could see yourself "wearing" and work yourself slowly into the new "do". Good luck.. I'm sure you will look gorgeous!!

Oh and, my idea of styling my hair is washing it, pulling it out of the towel and without brushing it, putting it in a bun. If I'm feeling fancy, I will put in some curl stuff-- it's so long right now and in need of a trim that the curl doesn't hold long (it's naturally curly).
